In preparation for hosting an 8 day yoga retreat I decided to cut out some of the additional excess in my diet in an effort to clean out my system. An already strict, longtime vegetarian with a mild addiction to dairy, I decided to cut out most, if not all of the cheese and gluten in an effort to prep my body for a week of unprocessed, wholesome goodness. After eight days of being served three delicious, mostly raw, vegan meals harvested right from the source, I felt lighter, looked healthier and had an overall amazing radiance!
Traveling back to snowy Colorado after sweating out the excess in Nicaragua, I decided to make a conscious choice to continue to eat this way. Five weeks later, still focusing on a clean, plant based diet I am five pounds lighter and feel great!

If you're looking for the perfect yoga clothes with a nice balance of function and fun, check out Peace & Om. A yoga clothing company out of Encinitas, CA that can be found in several California boutiques, as well as local California farmers markets. Owner, Kelly Post, was kind enough to donate her colorful tanks to all of our #RadianceRetreat2016 yoginis who wore, and re-wore them, throughout Nicaragua! Kelly is about to launch a new website, but in the meantime can be found on her Facebook page @ Peace & OM or on Instagram @ peaceom_encinitas. Kelly is offering an affordable, but still stylist, alternative to many of the higher priced yoga clothes that are currently on the market. From soft leggings to "zen-themed" tanks, perfect for everyday wear as well as asana!
I am so excited to have partnered with Lucy for my annual Tropical Radiance Retreat. Lucy has been extremely generous and has sent my yoginis each a super comfy, lightweight muscle tank- perfect for yoga in Nicaragua! I can't wait to test out their gear on the banks of Lake Apoyo! Thank you Lucy!
"All of our gear features the high-performance qualities you'd expect, such as moisture-wicking, breathable fabric with four-way stretch, and chafe-free flat locked seams.
And because details make a difference, we load them up:
- mesh in high heat zones
- reflectivity front and back for night owls and early risers
- thumbholes to keep the chill at bay
- cinchable waist drawcords to keep pants in place
- pockets galore - at your waist, on your back, at the hip, down the sides of your legs, and tucked into your hems
We make gear you'll love to be in, and find yourself reaching for everyday."
Nicola Farrer, the owner of Nicola's Raw Menu, has graciously donated her Savory Trail Mix to all of our #radianceretreat2016 yogis for our mainland to Little Corn Island travel day! I can't wait to get snacking! For more info on Nicola please visit her website: www.RawInTheRockies.com or join Nicola and I at Avalanche Ranch Hot Springs April 24th-26th on our Local's Retreat where you can experience more of her raw, vegan cuisine!
"After attending my first yoga conference in 2004 I adopted a vegan diet. Having been vegetarian since the age of 12 the transition was smooth. Over the last 4 years or so I experimented with adding more raw food options to my daily meals, relishing in the many benefits, increased energy, clearer skin, better sleep, increased mental clarity and a stronger, lighter physique. As an avid cook I would experiment with recipes and play around with ingredients. Every dish/snack/dessert I shared with friends was received with many praises about how delicious and satisfying the food was! This opened up the door for me to continue sharing my love of raw foods to the entire valley. So was born, Raw in the Rockies, a business service that offers raw food cooking classes/workshops, private chef services with food prepared on-site or delivered to your door, juice cleanses and catering. Then came the idea to put out a line of dehydrated delicious snacks made with the finest organic ingredients available. So much of me, my love and my passion for this way of life is put into the food I prepare that I decided to call my line of grab-and-go snacks 'Nicola's Raw Menu'. These products are now available for purchase via e-mail: email@example.com. The journey is only just beginning and I hope to meet you somewhere along my path!"
